A dead body was found last night at the former location of the Gerber/Hart LGBT library at 1127 W. Granville, according to the Windy City Times.

The library is set to move to Rogers Park, although is was reported by the blog Now in Rogers Park that city permit applications are holding up the process.

The Windy City Times noted that the body “is not believed to be that of anyone associated with the library.”

The library was also the topic of a Tribune article that ran last month about alleged infighting among the library’s members and its governing board.

Update: The Chicago Phoenix reported that the body found at the former Gerber/Hart Library location is that of Marcus Smith, 51, and the Cook County Medical Examiner has ruled his cause of death to be from complications related to valvular heart disease. It is believed that Smith was a maintenance or construction worker.

I’ve known Marcus Smith and he was a good hearted man. He worked hard to make a living. He was still young when he died, and unfortunately he had to lose his life. He had alot of family and friends that will truly miss him. May he rest in peace.
